About
Mr. Swell, a science teacher at Hopewell Middle School, doesn’t limit his teaching the classroom. He encourages students to experience science in their own backyards. To promote conservation, students built rain barrels and compost bins. They used rainfall and stormwater run-off to water their community rain garden. Mr. Swell’s class also conducted stream water monitoring to learn about the health of their local streams. After conducting the water tests, students entered their findings into an online database.
