Kid Power DC provides daily after-school and summer programs to approximately 350 youth. Programs are designed to help youth achieve success in school, meaningful civic engagement, healthy behaviors, and successful transitions into adulthood. Greening Forward’s grant helped fund VeggieTime, a Kid Power program that teaches children about plant science and healthy eating through gardening. students study a wide-array of health, environmental, and agricultural practices. With the help of Greening Forward, students learned about sustainable gardening, and installed a new rain garden at Cesar Chavez Prep.
