International Young Environmentalists Youth Summit – IYEYS
Over 300 young changemakers come together at the International Young Environmentalists Youth Summit, a youth-driven capacity-building conference, for the opportunity to gain the skills they need to take their environmental campaigns to the next level. Young people (and the adults who support them) working on issues across the environmental spectrum – from sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, plastics free, transportation, water quality, and so much more – are welcomed to attend. Join our e-mailing list to learn when the 2019 conference will be held.
One Hundred Miles Choosing to Lead Conference
Two of our Greening Forward team members spoke at the One Hundred Miles conference in Jekyll Island, Georgia on the weekend of January 13-14, 2018. The conference brought together organizations, community leaders, teachers, and students interested in protecting Georgia’s coast. Our staff members, Cary Lynne and Ryan, shared their personal stories, spoke about the foundation of Greening Forward, and shared the resources our organization has created to help young people get involved. Learn more about the conference here.
All At Once Campaign
Our organization is teaming up with the Jack Johnson 2017 Tour and All At Once, a social action network connecting nonprofits with people who want to become active in their local and world community. All At Once comes to life online at www.AllAtOnce.org and at the Jack Johnson concerts where you can get educated, get inspired, and connect face-to- face with us and other local and national non-profits. All At Once promotes sustainable local food systems and plastic free initiatives and encourages action through the Capture Your Commitment campaign.
Green Schools Conference & Expo Student Summit
The 6th annual Green Schools Conference & Expo was held April 21-22, 2017 in Atlanta, Georgia. Students, educators, administrators, business and community leaders, nonprofit partners, green building professionals and others came together to advance the shared mission of green schools for all within this generation. The Student Summit, presented by The Captain Planet Foundation, Greening Forward, and the United States Green Building Council’s Center for Green Schools, ran concurrently with the main sessions, while also providing a unique opportunity for students working towards greener schools to convene, learn, and share their work.
